This film is a biopic of Sam Bahadur but the story goes straight to 1933. There was a need to focus a little on these aspects of his childhood, school and college days and his association with the Army. Along with this, many incidents from Sam Bahadur’s life have been shown simultaneously in the film, but they have not been connected effectively. Overall, the screenplay of this two and a half hour story has not been able to give a memorable tribute to the legendary Sam Bahadur, as was expected from the film. Despite these flaws, everyone should see the story of this hero of the Indian Army once.

Advantages and disadvantages of the film

In the screenplay of the film, the relationship between Shaim Bahadur and Indira Gandhi and her cook has been presented in a very interesting manner. In the film, every unit of the army has been shown in a very interesting manner, which is the specialty of the film. Talking about the shortcomings, the film starts effectively but then the story starts becoming weak and also slows down. In the film, an attempt has been made to show many cases related to Sam Bahadur together. Due to which in the first half it also feels many times that something is starting from somewhere. It’s going to end any time. The editing of the film has remained weak. The story picks up pace in the second part, but the climax here also seems incomplete. Sam Bahadur is considered to be the most important hero of the India-Pakistan war of 1971, but this war could not come on screen in the way it was required. The film has lyrics by Gulzar and music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The song Badte Chalo Aur Banda not only does justice to the story but also fills one with enthusiasm. The period of the story is shown from 1933 to 1972. The production design, costumes and look have been worked on with great care, for which its technical team deserves congratulations.

Vicky Kaushal’s acting is fantastic

Vicky Kaushal is one of the capable artists of the present era. He has mastered the art of getting into the characters. By watching the video footage of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw available on the internet, it can be understood how well he has done his homework. He has worked a lot on his body language as well as his accent. His acting is the biggest feature of this film. It would not be wrong to say this. Fatima Sana Shaikh has not been able to bring the charismatic personality of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on screen in the way that was required for that historical character. Be it her body language or her dialogue delivery, she is weak in everything. It is inexplicable that a prosthetic was imposed on Zeeshan Ayub to such an extent that even his facial expressions were not visible. This time Sanya Malhotra has also remained average, while Neeraj Kabi and Govind Namdev have failed to impress.
