In one of the biggest announcements of the year, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his ambitious project ‘Love and War’ and IndiaToday.in has exclusively learned that the film is based on the hit Hindi film Sangam. The 1964 film starred Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar.
Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, the film is directed by Ranbir Kapoor and is one of the most awaited films. It is a well-known fact that the Sangam remake was in the works for a long time. Initially it was Dharma Productions who planned to make it. However, due to several delays, it could not be implemented. Yet a source informs, Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ is a love triangle, which depicts the trials and tribulations of complex relationships, as we saw in Sangam. It would be far-fetched to call it a remake. But Bhansali is adopting it. ‘Love and War’ with a modern-day script, inspired by the 1964 film, was appreciated.
It is interesting that Ranbir Kapoor will be stepping into the role of his grandfather Raj Kapoor in Sangam for this film. Although we don’t have any specific timeline regarding the shooting schedule of this film, it is likely to begin in the second half of 2024. Ranbir is currently focusing on Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan’, while Alia has a YRF spy film to work on. Vicky is also busy shooting for ‘Chhaava’.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali will soon be seen making his OTT series debut with ‘Hiramandi’ which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Roy Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh.
