SBI Card: SBI’s big game changer in UPI payments! UPI transaction can also be done with credit card

SBI Card: SBI Card of the country’s largest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI Card) and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have announced the integration of SBI Credit Card with UPI on RuPay platform.
From August 10, 2023, SBI cardholders will be able to do UPI transactions with their credit cards issued on RuPay. This facility can be availed by registering the SBI Credit Card with the UPI app.
SBI cardholders can link their active primary cards with UPI and make payments through them. In order to link the credit card with UPI, it is important to note that the mobile number registered with the SBI card of the cardholder should also be linked with UPI. Along with this, to use this service, the credit card must be registered with third party UPI apps.
How to link RuPay Credit Card on UPI:
Step 1: Download UPI third party application from Play/App Store
Step 2: Verify your mobile number on the UPI app and complete registration
Step 3: After successful registration, select the option “Add Credit Card/Link Credit Card”.
Step 4: Select “SBI Credit Card” from the list of credit card issuers
Step 5: Select your SBI RuPay Credit Card to link
Step 6: On the popup enter the last 6 digits and expiry date of your credit card
Step 7: Set your 6 digit UPI PIN
How to make Point of Sale (PoS) payments with UPI on your credit card:
Step 1: Scan the merchant UPI QR code on your UPI enabled third party app
Step 2: Enter payment amount
Step 3: From the dropdown, select your SBI RuPay Credit Card linked to UPI
Step 4: Enter 6 digit UPI PIN to authorize the transaction
UPI will see a paradigm shift in card payments
Ram Mohan Rao Amara, MD & CEO, SBI Card said that as far as merchant transactions are concerned, people use UPI transactions for small amount payments and credit cards for large amount transactions. When the credit card will be linked to UPI, there will be a change in this trend and people will move towards making large payments through UPI.
