Post office schemes are the trusted schemes of India. Investing in post office schemes is a reliable and time-tested method for many. Recently, in Budget 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made changes to some of the popular post office schemes such as Post Office Monthly Income Scheme and Senior Citizen Savings Scheme.
Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (MIS) provides an opportunity to the customers to get a fixed income every month by investing a lump sum amount. In Budget 2023, the investment limit was increased to Rs 9 lakh for a single account and Rs 15 lakh for a joint account, while the interest rate remains at 7.10 per cent.
The objective of Senior Citizen Savings Scheme is to provide a safe investment option for senior citizens. It offers an annual interest rate of 8.00 percent and its investment limit has been raised by the government from Rs.15 lakh to Rs.30 lakh.
For those who want to secure the financial future of their girl child, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a great option. It allows investments from Rs 250 to Rs 1.5 lakh per financial year and gives a return of 7.6 per cent.
The Kisan Vikas Patra scheme offers a return of 7.2 per cent and allows investments starting from Rs 1,000, with the amount being in multiples of Rs 100. Invested money doubles in 120 months.
National Savings Certificate (NSC) is one of the small savings schemes that offers 7.00 percent return on investment. It allows investment from Rs 1,000 to Rs 100 in multiples, and has a total investment tenure of 5 years.
