Visakhapatnam. In the second innings of the second test match against England, Shubman Gill got luck in the beginning and made it meaningful by scoring his third test century, while Akshar Patel played a good inning of 45 runs, which led to tea on the third day of the second test. By then India’s lead was 370 runs.

Gill and Axar made a partnership of 89 runs for the fifth wicket, in which Gill scored his first Test century as a number three batsman and scored 104 runs from 147 balls.

This is an important innings for Gill, because he was going through a bad phase for some time due to which questions were being raised about his place in the playing-11.

The second session started with Axar hitting two fours against James Anderson and then Gill increased the pace by hitting a six off Rehan Ahmed. He hit two consecutive fours.

Gill and Akshar were easily taking advantage of the spinners for singles, while hitting boundaries in between, taking their partnership beyond fifty. Gill finally completed his century by taking a single off Bashir. After some time, Gill’s excellent innings came to an end when Bashir walked him.
