Shukla Dutta appointed head coach of India Under-19 women’s football team

Former Indian player Shukla Dutta was on Saturday appointed the coach of the country’s Under-19 women’s football team ahead of the SAFF Championship to be held in February next year. Former Indian Under-17 women’s team coach Shukla Dutta will be assisted by the all-women support staff along with former Indian international Shraddha Samantare and goalkeeping coach Laurembam Ronibala Chanu.
The Indian team will begin its preparations for the SAFF Championship in Goa next month. All India Football Federation (AIFF) acting general secretary M Satyanarayana said in a statement, “The Under-19 SAFF Women’s Tournament is very important for us. This tournament is an important stepping stone for talented players to reach the next level. ,
“It is fantastic that we can have an all-female technical staff for the Under-19 women’s team,” she said. The SAFF Under-19 Women’s tournament started in 2018 and India has participated in it four times, out of which the team won the title in 2022 while the team was the runner-up in the 2021 edition in Bangladesh. India stood third this year.
The virtual meeting for the selection of support staff was chaired by former India captain IM Vijayan and was attended by Satyanarayan, Manoranjan Bhattacharya (Vice Chairman, Technical Committee) and Syed Sabir Pasha (Technical Director) among others.
