Mumbai Actress Shweta Khanduri, known for her work in the TV show ‘Baalveer Returns’ and the series ‘Illegal’, trekked from Kathmandu to Mount Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp treks usually take you from Kathmandu (Lukla) to Base Camp, which is about 5,364 meters above sea level.
Shweta said: It seemed impossible. For a second I was surprised that I actually did it. My mother always wanted to do trekking in her young days, but unfortunately she could not do it, when I told her about it, she was very happy. I am happy that I made my parents proud.
She left for the track on April 22 from Mumbai to reach Kathmandu by flight. Describing a journey, he said: Basically our journey started on 23rd April. We had to travel from Kathmandu to Ramechhap followed by a 6-7 hour road trip to the airport.
Half of the people on the trip reached Lukla a day before, which made things difficult for us, however, we were very excited and eager to start our journey. We reached Lukla on the morning of the 24th.
Shweta started her trek on the morning of 24th April: we had to start from the minute we landed as we had to cover for lost time so our first trek was straight for 16 kms. We continued to trek till Mount Everest Base Camp for 7 consecutive days.
The journey was truly breathtaking. I was having trouble breathing because of the altitude, but I kept moving forward to reach my destination. I also fell ill during my journey, but my mission to reach Everest Base Camp overcame all odds. I want to thank Boots and Crampons and Rommel Barthwal sir.
Recalling an incident, the actress told that it was snowing due to which we lost our track marks. However, we managed to find our way.
She said: The moment was scary but now that I think back, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
