Ahmedabad . Singer Kamlesh Awasthi, known as the voice of Mukesh, died at his home in Ahmedabad at the age of 78. He was in coma for the last one month.

Awasthi’s demise left a void in the music world. He lent his voice for Raj Kapoor in ‘Gopichand Jasoos’. He was famous for the hit song ‘Tera Saath Hai To…’ from ‘Pyaasa Sawan’. Another notable rendition of Awasthi was the song ‘Zindagi Imtihaan Leti Hai’ from the film ‘Naseeb’.

Born in Savarkundla in 1945, Awasthi did his Ph.D. Has received the title of. He started his musical career at Bhavnagar University and under the guidance of art guru Bharbhai Pandya in Bhavnagar. He rose to fame with his album ‘Tribute to Mukesh’, which shows his singing similarity with the legendary singer Mukesh.

His voice earned him the title of ‘Voice of Mukesh’, especially when Raj Kapoor praised his singing for the film ‘Gopichand Jasoos’, saying that it felt as if Mukesh was back.

Awasthi’s contribution to the music industry, especially Gujarati cinema, has won him widespread praise. His legacy includes active presence in many Gujarati songs and stage shows, which earned him a reputation in the regional music scene.
