The film Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai deals with a very sensitive subject of rape, which is based on the case of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, which shook the faith of the entire nation almost a decade ago. This incident has been shown in this film through courtroom drama. Courtroom drama in our films usually means over-the-top treatment and larger-than-life characters, but instead of sensationalizing the crime, this film narrates the story with full sensitivity. Which makes this film a necessary film for all and Manoj Bajpayee’s strong acting is definitely to make this film more special.
Story inspired by real events
The story of the film is about lawyer PC Solanki, who sent Asharam Bapu to jail in 2018 for raping a minor. This film is the story of his perseverance, courage and wisdom. The name of the accused in the film is not Asharam Bapu, but the name of the lawyer’s character (PC Solanki) is the same and it becomes clear after watching the film that this film is based on the same actual incident. How PC Solanki was able to bring Baba to the bars of the jail after a long fight of five years. In which money, price, punishment and discrimination were all used to remove PC Solanki from the case, but Solanki stood by the truth. This journey has been shown in the story of the film.
Script pros and cons
This is a film based on true incident. A high profile case that everyone is familiar with, but the film is presented in such a way that it keeps you hooked from start to finish. For this, the writing and directing team of the film has to be praised. Finally, Manoj Bajpayee’s closing speech has taken the film to a higher level. Many layers have also been added to Solanki’s character in the treatment of the film. Generally, such characters have been given full hero treatment in films. Solanki is the hero here too, but the treatment of the character is realistic. He doesn’t take bribe. To get justice to the innocent girl and her family, he is not even taking any fee from them.
The film closely mirrored Solanki’s character
Not only this, he has risked his life as well as his family’s life in this fight for justice, but like a common man, he remains worried for the safety of himself and his family. He can take on anyone in the court, but when confronted on the street, he believes in running away. He is influenced by eminent lawyers who have come to defend Baba. He also wants to take a photo with them, but when the time comes, he also stands firm against them. The film has closely brought Solanki’s character on the screen. The film also strongly shows that our law is so strong that if someone is well versed with it, it can bring even the heaviest of criminals to their end. Talking about the flaws, the film wanders a bit in the middle. There are some repetitions in the scenes, but the film soon returns to the track. There was a need to focus a little more on the emotions of the girl in the film.
Manoj Bajpayee’s tremendous acting film
Manoj Bajpayee, one of the best actors of Hindi cinema, has earned accolades for his performance in OTT in the last few years. Once again he has been tremendous in this film as well. He has lived the character of PC Solanki with utmost care. From dialogues to body language, he has imbibed the character in everything. Aditi Singh Andrija has beautifully expressed both the pain and anger associated with her character. Vipin Verma is also remembered. Rest of the characters have also done justice to their respective roles. The important USP of this film is its casting.
This aspect is also special
It is a court room drama and the biggest requirement of such films are dialogues and the dialogues of this film are strong. Those who shake the heart, sometimes also bring a smile on the face. The cinematography of the film is in line with the story. The aspect of song and music is also effective.
