Sona Mohapatra has reacted to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi taking Aishwarya Rai’s name in his recent attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony last month. The singer took to Twitter to rally support for Aishwarya in a series of tweets.
Sona Mohapatra says, ‘Aishwarya dances very well’
Sona Mohapatra, who often shares her honest opinions about society, women, sexism, politics as well as the entertainment industry, tweeted on Wednesday, “Politicians insult women in their speeches to get some mileage in a sexist scenario. Are you doing? Dear Rahul Gandhi” Surely someone has insulted your mother (Sonia Gandhi), sister (Priyanka Gandhi) in a similar manner before and you should know better? Also, Aishwarya Rai dances beautifully.
In another tweet, Sona slammed an ex-user who wrote, “Is it beautiful to dance like a tawaif??? Thank god she (Aishwarya Rai) didn’t try to dance Odissi… Umrao Jaan so called.” Talks a lot about dance. Even Vidya Balan Also.” Balan didn’t dare portray Odissi as a courtly dance. He only played the role of an Odissi dancer. Sona Mohapatra wrote in response, “‘Dancing like a courtesan’ is really praise you idiot Illiterate…From Amrapali, Barani, Pursati to Umrao Jaan, the courtesans of Indian history were treasures and revered for their art, artistry, command over languages and poetry, performing arts.”
What did Rahul Gandhi say about Aishwarya?
Recently, while addressing a gathering, Rahul Gandhi had said, “Did you see Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha? Did you see any OBC or ST/SC face? This includes Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan (Aishwarya Rai) and PM Narendra Modi. ” But we did not see the people who actually run the country. These people want to ensure that you people can never control the country.” He even said during another rally that Aishwarya would ‘dance’ and Amitabh would ‘balle-balle’ at the events. His comments were shared on social media. This was not liked by a section of users, who criticized him for bringing Aishwarya in his political speech.
“Dancing like a courtesan” is indeed a compliment you Foolish illiterate Putra. From Amrapali, Barani, Purasati to even Umrao Jaan, the courtesans of Indian history were treasure troves & revered for their art, artistry & command over languages & poetry, performing arts. 🧚🏿♀️🔴 https://t.co/eU88SZ1tLs
