How did this web series reach you?

I am in touch with casting director Mukesh Chhabra. After my South debut, he noticed me and said that I am talented. I want work in Hindi industry also. After which I started auditioning for many Hindi projects and when this project was offered to me, I immediately said yes. National Award winning director Neela Madhav Panda’s name is associated with this. This series has international appeal. The story was linked not only to India but also to Korea. Many technical crew are from abroad. It was an emotionally and physically exhausting film.

As you said you started giving auditions, did you get rejected during this time as well?

Yes, I have given many auditions. Rejection has also been received. It is a part of this industry, so I do not take it too seriously. Anyway, no one says no to your face after the audition, just don’t get further calls, then you have to understand that you have not been selected.

What was challenging for you as an actress in this series?

I cannot describe my experience in one line, but it was wonderful and fulfilling. There was not a day on the set when it was not challenging, intense or exciting. The shooting of this series took place in the forests and real locations of Orissa, so it was a very special experience. Priya Das, my character and her relationship with her father is very special. I share the same with my father in my personal life as well.

Did this series remind you of your father?

In real life too, my father works in Dubai and I am very attached to him. I miss him all the time. I think the distance has given a lot of pain. This film was an output. There were a lot of intense scenes in it, I used to bring out all the emotions of my real life during those scenes.

What did you do every day to get out of your character mentally?

Sometimes director Neela Madhav Panda used to help me to get out of it, and sometimes even a good shower used to relax me.

As you mentioned the web series has been shot in the jungles of Orissa, did any strange incident happen?

It was a very good team, due to which no problem was faced. Yes, on the first day of shooting, the DOP of our series got stuck in a tree and fractured his leg, after which the new DOP became a part of it.

You are an actress, dancer as well as a poet and painter, how did it all come to you?

I have always been inclined towards art and my parents encouraged and supported me. During the summer vacation, he used to send me to classes that had something like theater or dance performance. I am whatever I am because of them. I was interested in it and I don’t do it just because. I consider art like a religion.

This series is about climate change, what are you doing personally for the climate?

I want to do a lot but I don’t have that much time, but I keep on making small efforts. Like not using plastic. I use electricity and water wisely. Apart from this, I support those organizations in Hyderabad, which work for environment, vegetarianism, animal rights and LGBQT.

Do you have a wish list of directors you wish to work with?

I have a big and long list of directors I want to work with, Vishal Bhardwaj, Imtiaz Ali, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Zoya Akhtar and many more. It’s a very long list. Ever since I have seen his films, I want to work with him.

Do you believe in asking for work yourself?

There is no culture of approaching producers and directors for work in South, but here it is. I think the Hindi film industry makes you feel equal. If you are an actor or an actress then it is not that special. If I do some more work, I would like to approach Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir.

Heard you have signed a film with Mahesh Babu?

No, that’s a rumour. I am doing a Telugu film with Allari Harish and a Tamil film with Vijay Anthony, both films are 50 percent complete. I am waiting for his release.
