RRR director SS Rajamouli is in the US for the Oscars and is busy attending various events before March 12. He has now given an interview to AFP where the director talks about the nationalistic flavor for which RRR was criticized. Rajamouli said that he grew up in a very religious family but was an atheist and believed that “religion is essentially exploitation”.
The Baahubali director said, “I oppose any extremist approach. I don’t have any hidden agenda. I make films for people who are willing to pay their hard-earned money on movie tickets. I like this.” Entertain them, make them feel dramatic about the characters, about the situations, have a good time, go back and live your life.”
SS Rajamouli further said that When I go to see a movie, I want to see larger-than-life characters, larger-than-life situations, larger-than-life drama. And this is what I love to make.
Natu Natu Ko Oscar Hope
Rajamouli said he hoped Naatu Naatu would win the Oscar for Best Original Song and added, “We’ve hit the ground running, but I think we’re in the very early stages. If you look at (South) Korea, For example, the kind of inroads he has made. We should aspire to do that, all Indian filmmakers.”
