Announcing on Thursday, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the government will give digital certificates to registered players across the country. This initiative will ensure transparency regarding the performance and participation of players. The digital certificate will recognize the players’ participation in competitions and will also be proof of their achievements.
Also, Anurag Thakur wrote on had announced its plan on August 29 last year. The NSF portal was also launched at that time.
Thakur further said that as per the Player First policy, National Sports Federations have been asked to give certificates to the players through DigiLocker. “This decision has been taken to promote transparency and efficiency in NSF’s sports administration and to ensure the security, accessibility and integrity of athletes’ documents,” he said.
He said, “From June 1 this year, only the certificates issued by sports federations through DigiLocker will be valid and no paper certificate will be accepted for government and other benefits.” We have suggested to the federations that their recognized units should also start issuing certificates through DigiLocker from January 1 next year. Thakur said that this will streamline the process of issuing certificates and reduce the administrative burden.
