Sudhir Mishra said on the controversy over ‘The Kerala Story’ – do not ban the film, if there is a problem then go to court

It may be known that Kamal Haasan recently objected to The Kerala Story and said that he is against such propaganda films. Writing a line like ‘True Story’ at the bottom of a film doesn’t make it true. ‘The Kerala Story’ hit the screens on May 5, and has been mired in controversy ever since. Along with West Bengal, where ‘The Kerala Story’ was banned in some states, some states made it tax free. Now Sudhir Mishra reacted on this film ban.
‘I am not in support of ban culture’
Sudhir Mishra was present at the special screening of the film ‘Afwah’ in Kolkata recently. During this, on the ban on ‘The Kerala Story’ in Bengal, he said, ‘I have never supported this culture of banning any film. If you don’t like the film, then give constructive criticism. Come up with a concrete reason. But you cannot ban the film.
‘If we seniors keep quiet, what will happen to the younger generation?’
Sudhir Mishra, who has made off-beat films like ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’, ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ and ‘Chameli’, also spoke on the issue of censorship and said, ‘If you have any objection to a film, go to court. But a filmmaker cannot be silenced. If we seniors remain silent then what will happen to the younger generation? They will not even have the courage to make films on serious issues.
The reason behind the controversy over ‘The Kerala Story’
Actresses like Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, Devdarshini and Siddhi Idnani appeared in ‘The Kerala Story’. The film showed the story of women who become Muslims after conversion and then become part of the terrorist organization ISIS. It has been claimed about ‘The Kerala Story’ that it is based on a true incident.
