Sunny Deol and Ayushmann Khurrana join hands for Border 2? The film will be released in 2024

After the huge success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is all set for the sequel of one of the most popular films of his career, Border. According to a report in IANS, Ayushmann Khurrana is also expected to play an important role in the film. The film will be directed by JP Dutta’s daughter, producer-writer Nidhi Dutta and is expected to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2024. The remaining cast is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.

IANS quoted a source as saying, “Nidhi Dutta, who is also writing the script, believes that ‘Border 2’ will be the biggest war film ever made in the country. Unlike its predecessors, the film aims to showcase the collaborative efforts of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, offering a comprehensive perspective on the 1971 war. “The story is expected to weave together personal stories of war heroes and martyrs, which will add a human touch to the grand spectacle of war,” IANS quoted a source as saying.

Ground work for the film began in 2022, which included several trips to Delhi to obtain the necessary permissions from the Defense Ministry to shoot at real locations and use authentic names to ensure authentic representation of historical events. JP Dutta was adamant on creating a story that would do justice to the legacy of Border.

The film not only pays tribute to the historical events of the 1971 war but also explores the human stories that unfolded on the battlefield.

Earlier this year, Aamir Khan had announced a project with Sunny Deol titled Lahore 1947. The film will be produced by Aamir under his banner Aamir Khan Productions, while director Rajkumar Santoshi will direct the upcoming project.

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol have previously achieved huge box office success in Damini, Ghatak and Ghayal.
