Cape Town: Sunrisers Eastern Cape have captured their second consecutive SA20 Championship title after an 89-run win over Durban Supergiants at Newlands. After topping the group stage, Sunrisers also performed brilliantly in the finals. Durban Super Giants, chasing the target of 205 runs on Saturday night, were all out for 115 runs in 17 overs. Earlier, Sunrisers won the toss and chose to bat first and scored 204 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs.
Tom Abel (55) and Tristan Stubbs (56 not out) played half-centuries for Sunrise, while Jordan Harman and captain Aiden Markram contributed 42 runs each. Sunrisers’ bowling unit has been the strongest throughout the season and their fast bowlers gave a strong performance for the team in the final match as well. Marco Jansen took 5 wickets in bowling for Sunrisers. Daniel Worrall and Autumn Barthman got 2 successes each.
