New Delhi. The Supreme Court ordered lifting of the ban imposed by the state government on the screening of ‘The Kerala Story’ in West Bengal during a hearing on Thursday.
The court also said that it would like to see ‘The Kerala Story’ before proceeding to decide the petitions challenging the certificate granted to the film.
The bench will hear in the second week of July the petitions challenging the grant of CBFC certificate to the film. A bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud noted that the film is certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). And it is the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order.
The bench said, “Bad films do not work at the box office.” Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice J.B. Pardiwala. The court asked the producers of ‘The Kerala Story’ to put a ‘disclaimer’ on the allegations of conversion of 32,000 women to Islam in the film by 5 pm on May 20.
