The National Vice President of Karni Sena Surjit Singh Rathore has been arrested by the Mumbai Police. He was accused by a model of molesting, abusing, harassing and defaming him. According to a Mid Day report, the complainant had approached the police alleging that someone had created a fake Instagram account in his name. He further said that the offender defamed her by sending derogatory messages to relatives, friends on image and video-sharing service and other social media platforms. After which a case was registered by the police against the unknown person under sections 354 (a) (d), 500, 501, 506, 506 (2) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 of the IT Act. Senior Inspector Pramod Tawde, API Vivek Tambe, Bhadarge and their team started the investigation under the guidance of DCP Ajay Kumar Bansal and ACP Renuka Bagde.

An officer from Bangur Nagar Link Road police station said, “After getting information from Instagram and knowing about Rathore’s alleged involvement, a police team was formed and we started looking for him. Eventually, Surjit Singh Rathore was arrested.

The officer said that during interrogation, the police came to know that Rathore is an actor, producer and managing director of SSR Films banner. Rathore and the complainant first came in contact in 2021 on Instagram. The model alleged in her statement that Rathore had proposed something to her, when she turned it down, he threatened that she would not work in the industry and started harassing her. “Rathore created a fake Instagram account and used it to send obscene messages,” the officer said. Surjit Singh Rathore, a resident of Jaipur, was sent to police custody for one day. Another officer said, “The police is probing whether he has a criminal record.”
