New Delhi. Suryakumar Yadav has put an end to all the speculations regarding his recent surgery and clarified that his surgery was for sports hernia and not for the ankle injury suffered during the tour of South Africa in December 2023.
Suryakumar, 33, has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury during the South Africa tour in December 2023. He is likely to make a comeback representing the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). He went to Munich, Germany for surgery in January.
Suryakumar shared an informative post on his official Instagram handle, addressing the confusion surrounding his surgery. In his message, he expressed his gratitude for the support and love he has received. He reassured fans that his road to recovery is progressing well, and hinted at a return to the cricket field soon.
“Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear up some, I think, a little confusion. For those who don’t know, let me tell them that a few weeks ago I was operated on not for my ankle but for a sports hernia. The road to recovery is going really well. Thank you all for your love and support, see you all soon.
He injured his ankle in South Africa, so there was some confusion about his surgery as some people thought he had surgery on his ankle. Earlier, after his surgery in January, Suryakumar shared a picture on Instagram and wrote:
“I want to thank everyone for your concerns and well wishes for my health, and I am happy to tell you all that I will be back very soon.”
The Mumbai Indians (MI) star, who is eagerly awaited to make a comeback in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury. However, his leadership abilities shone when he captained India in the T20 series against South Africa during the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
Suryakumar’s stellar performances with the bat during the South Africa tour, which included a blistering 56 off 36 balls at Gkebarha and a brilliant century off 56 balls at Johannesburg, further cemented his reputation as a T20 batsman.
