Justin Bieber recently faced criticism after posting and later deleting an Instagram story related to the current Israel-Hamas situation. In the post, he said he was ‘praying for Israel’ and included a photo of a war front. However, the image he used in the original story was of the destruction in Gaza while his post was in support of Israel. Reportedly, it depicts a devastated part of the Gaza Strip. This post drew strong reactions on social media. In response to the criticism, Justin Bieber removed the post and replaced it with the same message without any photo.
In an earlier Instagram Story, the singer had expressed that he did not want to take sides, but his aim was to stand in solidarity with the families affected by the conflict, while acknowledging the tragic loss of life. “I feel wrong about insulting all Palestinians or all Israelis,” Justin Bieber wrote in an earlier post on his Instagram Story. He further said, “I am not interested in choosing sides, but I am interested in standing with the families of those who were brutally taken away from us.”
Soon after his post social media users expressed their disappointment, with one person calling the situation embarrassing and commenting, “Simply embarrassing. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t talk at all. And did ‘He had just said yesterday that he will not take any side and will see what he is doing now.’ Another user wrote “Justin Bieber posting ‘Pray for Israel’ using a photo of destroyed Gaza is really crazy.”
Meanwhile India launched a special operation known as ‘Operation Ajay’ with the aim of evacuating its citizens from Israel. The conflict in the region escalated last Saturday following an attack on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. This ongoing conflict has resulted in significant loss of life, with approximately 3,700 casualties on both sides, affecting Israel and Gaza. The objective of this operation was to ensure the safe return of Indian citizens from this volatile situation.
According to sources of news agency ANI, about 18,000 Indian citizens live in the war-torn country and the registration process of Indians for ‘Operation Ajay’ is currently going on. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is currently on a visit to Sri Lanka, announced the return of Indians to the conflict zone in a social media post and said special charter flights and other arrangements were being made.
