Teaser release of Hiramandi, story revolves around courtesans

Mumbai After delivering a massive bang on the silver screen, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to take OTT a notch higher with his upcoming epic series ‘Heeramandi’. The filmmaker unveiled the teaser of the much-awaited streaming series on Saturday in Mumbai.
In the teaser, the makers introduce the audience to the world of ‘Hiramandi’. It stars actresses Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal and Sanjeeda Sheikh, who have played courtesans. Indian classical music is playing in the teaser.
The series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a glitzy district, through the stories of tawaifs and their mentors against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian independence struggle of the 1940s.
Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Bhansali came together in Mumbai on Saturday to exchange insights on the growing world of Indian and global storytelling.
