Mumbai Actor Tej Sapru, who made his mark with films like ‘Tridev Paap Ko Jala Kar Ash Kar Dunga’ Andaz Mohra, is playing the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the film Razakar.
The actor said that this role will change the audience’s perception of him as an actor. After playing many negative roles, he has stepped into the role of a man who has shaped modern India.
Razakar is a period drama and unfolds the story of post-partition India. After releasing in Telugu and Kannada, the film is ready for release in Hindi and Marathi.
The actor spoke to IANS and said that the Nizam region was not in India after partition, and the film brings to light the events leading to the inclusion of the Nizam region in India.
Tej told IANS that Razakar is currently embroiled in some controversy. The story is of that time when even after a year of partition, the Nizam’s area was not a part of India. It could have gone to Pakistan or Türkiye. One person put all his strength behind the inclusion of Nizam area in India and that was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I have got a chance to play the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on screen. Till now you have mostly seen me in negative roles but after watching this film your perception will change.
Talking about the controversy surrounding the film, he further said that Razakars were soldiers of the Nizam and were very cruel. They used to rape women, kill people or convert them. The film is based on historical facts, so I don’t understand the reason for the controversy.
