The hospital said in a statement that Gadar was suffering from a serious heart condition and was admitted on July 20. The statement said that he had undergone bypass surgery on August 3 and had recovered from it. He was suffering from lung and urinary disease for a long time, which increased with increasing age and this became the reason for his death.

Gadar was last seen with Rahul Gandhi at a public meeting in Khammam on 2 July. There was also talk of Gadar contesting the Telangana assembly elections. A lifelong Maoist supporter, Gadar had voted for the first time in December 2018 itself.
Who are Gadar
Famous folk singer Gadar is considered the most famous face of the Telangana movement. He influenced the separate statehood movement with soulful songs and music. After the formation of a separate Telangana state in 2014, Gadar said the movement popularized the folk music of Telangana at home and abroad. After the formation of Telangana, Gadar tried to make a place in the state politics but failed. He had a falling out with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as he felt he had been sidelined and accused him of neglecting Dalits. He was critical of KCR till 2018, accusing him of betraying Dalits and marginalized communities, but suddenly he stopped talking about the CM and his government.
