Telugu star Nani said – Now the competition is who will make the best film, know what the actor said about the movie ‘Dasara’

In the past year, South films like ‘R RR, KGF 2 and Kantara’ have entertained people a lot. In this episode, now Telugu star Nani and Keerthy Suresh starrer film ‘Dasara’ is going to release this month. Recently its trailer has been released, in which Nani’s raw and rustic look is reminding the audience of ‘Pushpa’. This film made in Telugu will be Nani’s first pan India film, which is being talked about as a huge success. Here are the main excerpts from the conversation with Nani.

You have mostly done romantic roles. This time he is seen doing RAW action. How was the experience?

I have done action, but nothing so raw and native type. It was very tiring. Usually people say that we had a great time, like a picnic, but that was not the case with me. The way the film was shot, it was no less than a torture. But we are happy that the output came out very well. The only reason we tried so hard was because we knew we were making a great film, so we gave it our hundred per cent.

Did you have to do any special preparation for this film?

Nothing much, the script itself was interesting. All I had to do was take a break of 4 months to grow my hair and beard. Then going to the coal mines, when we got into our costumes, we became what was needed. Body language automatically changed.

Dasara being compared to KGF and Pushpa?

These are all grounded stories based in remote villages, but the stories are very different. In the film, we are going to work in coal mines, so we could not wear jeans and T-shirts, we had to wear lungi and vest. Wearing lungi and vest does not make the film Pushpa. KGF was shot in coal mines, so there was a lot of dust and dirt around. We have also shot in coal mines. But this does not make the film KGF. This comparison is baseless. There is a car in every film, so does the story of the film also become one because of the car.

Tell us something about your character in this film.

I am playing the role of an alcoholic in this film. This character drinks alcohol not for enjoyment, but because of his work. It is so hot in the coal mines that without drinking alcohol, the laborers will not be able to work there. Alcohol numbs them and makes it easier for them to function in those conditions.

Your films ‘Jersey’ and ‘Shyam Singh Roy’ have been well received by the Hindi speaking audience. Do you think you have become a pan India star?

Till now Hindi speaking audience has seen dubbed versions of my films on YouTube or OTT. If Dussehra becomes a big hit, I will accept that I am a pan Indian star. Until and unless my film is seen in all languages and does well at the box office, I am not a pan Indian star. If you want me to say so, I believe that my films of different genres should run in theaters as well.

‘RRR’ has created a new history by winning the Oscars, but some controversies have also come to the fore. Is it reported that the cast and crew had to buy tickets themselves to watch the presentation ceremony?

I have absolutely no idea of this. All I know is that when I woke up, I came to know that the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has won the Oscar. Other than that I don’t know anything. Has anyone confirmed this from the RRR team? If not then we should not believe it.

How special do you find RRR winning an Oscar on the world stage or the stupendous success of South films at the box office?

First of all it is an Indian film and it is an all India film.

But did director Rajamouli call his film a Telugu film?

It is wrong to misinterpret his words. If the film is made in Mumbai, then we will say that it is made in Mumbai. Yes, the film is made in South, but it has been made for the Indian audience. For example, for Dussehra, I can say that it is Made in India, but we have shot it in Telugu. It is a Tollywood film, but it is a film for people across India.

Earlier South stars used to come to Bollywood to be on the global map, but now the situation is the opposite?

Now we all can proudly say that we are equal. I have seen films like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ since childhood. Everyone has seen all Hindi movies in South. Now when South films are being watched all over the country, it means that we have also come on par. Now the competition is that who will make the best film.

How well do you speak and understand Hindi? Who is your favorite director in Hindi films?

I understand Hindi completely, but cannot speak fluently. Hopefully, I will be able to dub my own films in Pan India later. I love the work of Raju Hirani and Bhansali sir.

Do you approach films from the front?

I told Mani Ratnam sir only once in my career that I want to do a film with you.
