New Delhi (Best Hindu News): ‘The Elephant Whispers’ on Monday won the Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards. The film ‘The Elephant Whispers’ is produced by Guneet Monga and directed by Kartiki Gonsalves. The short film competed against The Hollow, The Martha Mitchell Effect, Stranger at the Gate, and How Do You Measure a Year.
Guneet Monga wrote on social media, “We have won the first Oscar for an Indian production. Two women did this together. I’m still trembling.” In another post, he wrote, “Tonight is historic as it is the first Oscar for an Indian production.”

The Elephant Whispers is an Indian-American short documentary film that tells the story of an indigenous couple named Bomman and Bailey, who find an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu. They go through a lot of trouble to keep this fragile, injured baby elephant alive and make it grow into a healthy young. A strong bond develops between him and the elephant. The set set up in Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai National Park also highlights its natural beauty. In this, the life of tribals in harmony with nature has also been highlighted.
Produced by Sikhya Entertainment, the short film had its world premiere at the DOC New York Film Festival on 09 Nov-2022 and was released on Netflix on 08 Dec-2022.
