face . Former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar believes that fans and social media have unnecessarily exaggerated the on-field brawl between Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth during the eliminator match between Indian Capitals and Gujarat Giants in the Legends League.

There was a heated argument between Gambhir and Sreesanth during the match at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium here on Wednesday. After which the umpires had to intervene.

Praveen Kumar, who played 68 ODIs and six Tests for India, urged everyone not to take the issue further and said such incidents are part of the game.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, he urged not to promote such matters too much on social media.

Praveen Kumar said, “These are part of the game. There is no need to create publicity about such incidents. It should remain only on the field and should not be taken beyond that. People have expressed their anger on social media without any reason.” It has created a ruckus, but if you see both of them (Gambhir and Sreesanth), you will forget it after a few days.”

He further said, “Everything becomes fine as soon as the players leave the field. There is no animosity between them. The media should not blow it out of proportion.”

After a heated exchange between Gambhir and Sreesanth, on Thursday the bowler posted two videos on social media accusing Gambhir of misbehavior. Gabhir also replied through post.

Following the controversy, Legends League Cricket (LLC) said it would conduct an internal investigation into violations of the code of conduct in the incident involving the two players.

Necessary action will be taken against all those who violate the clear rules laid down by the league’s code of conduct and conduct committee, Legends League Cricket (LLC) said in a statement on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Manipal Tigers entered the final of the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) after defeating India Capitals by six wickets on Thursday. The team will now face UrbanRisers Hyderabad in the final match here on Saturday.
