The Kerala Story, which was released amid controversies, is now ready to make a splash in foreign countries as well. The controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ released on Friday in over 200 cinema halls in the US and Canada. Director Sudipto Sen has said that the film is a mission that goes beyond the creative boundaries of cinema. Sen told a group of Indian and American journalists during a digital press conference, “The country was ignoring the long-standing problem in the state of Kerala. ‘The Kerala Story’ is a mission that transcends the creative boundaries of cinema, a movement that must reach people across the world and raise awareness.”

The whole world knows the reality of The Kerala Story

The film’s producer Vipul Shah said, “What has been shown in the film was hidden from the public and should have been told. We made the film to start a discussion about it across the world.” The film tells the story of three girls who allegedly converted to Islam and joined ISIS. The Hindu right wing, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has supported the film.

Tamil Nadu has boycotted the film

Theaters in Tamil Nadu boycotted the film. The film’s teaser has been widely criticized for claiming that 32,000 girls from Kerala had fled the state to join ISIS. The Kerala High Court had asked the makers to remove the film’s teaser from the promotional campaign. The West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee has banned the film.
