In a recent statement, Raj Kundra’s lawyer Prashant Patil expressed concern over the lengthy judicial proceedings against his client, which are pending since 2021. He highlighted his persistent requests to the prosecution for a speedy legal process. Patil said, “However, the records of the case clearly show that the prosecution is deliberately delaying the judicial proceedings for reasons well known to them. This has violated the fundamental right of my client Mr. Raj Kundra ” Asserting Kundra’s right to a speedy trial, Patil said, “It seems that there is no prima facie case against Mr. Raj Kundra, and that is why the prosecution is repeatedly seeking adjournment.”
Patil stressed that such deliberate conduct of prosecution is contributing to the significant backlog of pending cases in the country. He expressed concern that this situation results in suffering for innocent persons who are deprived of a fair trial. Patil criticized that “The agencies are only interested in making allegations and conducting a media trial. When it comes to evidence before the courts, there are only lame excuses and adjournments.
Given this context, Patil said Raj Kundra is now forced to face the consequences of what he described as a high-level prosecution, with the possibility of waiting indefinitely for justice. Patil concluded by mentioning, “He is being given legal advice to file a criminal writ petition before the Honorable Bombay High Court seeking speedy trial.”
