use hot water

If you want to make soft theplas, take care of the temperature of the water while kneading the dough. It is better to use warm water instead of cold water. The hot water helps to activate the gluten present in the flour. This makes the dough more pliable and as a result the thepla becomes soft.

Pay attention to the consistency of the flour

The consistency of the flour is also very important while making thepla. Make sure the dough is soft and smooth, but not too sticky. So, when you knead the dough, add water slowly and knead it well for a few minutes.

use ghee

Ghee is one such ingredient, which helps in keeping your theplas soft. So, be sure to use it. Once you knead the dough, add some ghee to it. Ghee helps in keeping the theplas soft and prevents them from drying out. You mix a small amount of ghee and spread it evenly on the surface of the dough.
