Mirzapur, 29 September (HS). The house of Pinky, who played the lead role in the Oscar Award winning documentary film Smile Pinky, will not be vacant for the time being. On Friday evening, Tehsildar Chunar Shakti Pratap Singh Rampur reached Smile Pinky’s house in Dhabhi village and assured her and her father Rajendra Sonkar that their house would not be vacated. For this, Pinky expressed gratitude to District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan.
Filmmaker Megan Mylan made a 39-minute documentary film Smile Pinky based on the lives of cleft lip children. This documentary received the Oscar Award in 2009. After this Pinky got a lot of fame. Pinky, who has reached this stage, would never have imagined that she would have to vacate the small house in which she was living.
There was a stir when 28 people of the village, including Pinky’s father, received a notice from the Forest Department to vacate their house. When District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan came to know about the eviction of Pinky’s house, she took the matter seriously and instructed Tehsildar Chunar not to vacate Pinky’s house.
Tehsildar Chunar Shakti Pratap Singh said that in Rampur Dhabhi village, the forest department had given notice to Rajendra Sonkar and others to vacate the encroachment on government land. Pinky and her father Rajendra Sonkar have been assured that their house will not be vacated.
Lawsuit is going on on three bigha lease land
Smile Pinky was allotted financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh and a lease of three bighas of land by Chunar SDM Dr. Vishram Yadav. Pinky told Tehsildar Chunar Shakti Pratap Singh that she had to fight a case against the people occupying the land which was given to her on lease. Tehsildar Chunar Shakti Pratap Singh assured him that it would be disposed of soon.
