Europe’s Corendon Airlines introduces an ‘Adult Only’ zone: What if you had the option of choosing your co-travellers on your flight. If it were possible, many people would prefer to avoid screaming babies or whining teenagers as their co-travellers. To help the passengers in their smooth journey, an airline has come up with a great option. It has started an initiative in which one of its main routes will have a large adults-only seating area.
According to reports, Europe’s Corendon Airlines will operate a no-kids zone on its 10-hour flights between Amsterdam and the Caribbean island of Curacao. Anyone choosing this option will be charged an additional 45 euros (USD 49) for a standard seat or $100 for an XL seat for the privilege of sitting in an adults-only area.
Reports say that the first 12 rows of the Airbus A350-900 flying the said route will consist of 93 standard seats and 9 extra large seats, which will be separated from the rest of the aircraft. Also note that this initiative will come with a strict age limit of above 16 years, which means that only people who are 16 years or above will be able to avail this facility.
Referring to this, the airline issued a press release stating that this area in the aircraft is for passengers traveling without children and for business travelers who want to work in a quiet environment, adding that it is suitable for small children. Parents will also benefit. Worry less about disturbing other passengers. The initiative will also help passengers who have children onboard be a little more stress-free if their little ones make a noise, as they will have less to worry about the kids disturbing other passengers.
The report states that Corendon flights with an adult-only sector will begin on November 3.
Reportedly, other airlines that have launched similar initiatives in recent years include AirAsia X, which has offered quiet areas on its flights for those under the age of 10, and those over the age of 12. Singaporean carriers have offered scuttle-in-silence zones for those in need.
It has also been reported that other popular airlines on the said route, such as TUI, KLM and Transavia, have said that they have no plans to introduce adults-only areas on their flights, although passengers are still open to the idea.
