This star batsman created history, made a world record by hitting most sixers in an innings

Carrara (Uttam Hindu News): Brisbane Heat batsman Josh Brown registered his name in the record books by hitting the most sixes in an innings of the Big Bash League (BBL) during his 140-run innings against Adelaide Strikers at the Heritage Bank Stadium on Monday. Josh Brown scored 140 runs in 57 balls at a strike rate of 245.61, which included a record 12 sixes and 10 fours. The 30-year-old player has now become the batsman to hit the most number of sixes in a single BBL innings. He broke the record of Chris Gayle, Craig Simmons and Chris Lynn for most sixes (11) in Australia’s T20 tournament.

Brisbane Heat scored a strong score of 214 runs for 7 wickets in this important do or die match. Brown’s stormy century off 41 balls also entered the record books, equaling the second fastest century in BBL history. In 2023, Glenn Maxwell made this record by scoring a century in 41 balls against Hobart Hurricanes at the prestigious MCG. Craig Simmons still holds the record for the fastest BBL century, having achieved the feat in just 39 balls for Perth Scorchers against the Strikers in January 2014.

Brown’s innings also gave him the third highest individual score in the history of BBL. Glenn Maxwell currently holds the record for the Stars with an incredible 154 off 64 balls against the Hurricanes at the MCG. Marcus Stoinis, another Stars player, is second after scoring an unbeaten 147 against the Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2020.

Brown’s excellent form has taken him to third place in the list of leading run scorers. With 313 runs in eight matches at an average of 39.12 and an impressive strike rate of 152.68, Brown has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the T20 league. Making his debut in the last BBL season (2022-23), he has already scored 771 runs at an average of 35.04, showing off his skills with the bat on the big stage. Thanks to Brown’s century and McSweeney’s three wickets, the Heat defeated the Strikers by 54 runs to enter the BBL 13 final. Where they will face the Sixers for the BBL title at the SCG on Wednesday.
