Instagram Kailash Kher told about his bad phase during an interview with Hindustan Times. He revealed how he struggled for years to find his love for music that later gained him worldwide popularity,

Kailash Kher said, I have struggled a lot in my life. When I was 20 or 21 years old, when I started doing business in Delhi. However, later that business suddenly collapsed.

After which I went to Rishikesh to become a ‘Pandit’. However, I felt that I did not deserve to be there, as my peers were younger than me and my views never coincided with theirs. I was frustrated because I was failing in everything..so one day I tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river Ganges.

He said, a person on the ghat immediately jumped into the Ganges and saved me. He asked, ‘If you don’t know yours then why did you go? I replied, ‘to die’…after learning about my intentions, they hit me hard on the head.

He also shared that after this incident, I locked myself in the room the next day without eating anything. During this, I kept thinking about my personality and tried to get out of the difficult phase.

In 2022, Kailash told Hindustan Times that his suicide attempt happened when he was in his early 20s. He said, “I was 30 years old when I came to Bombay and knew life till then, but, I was in my 20s when I had failed in many other attempts and then was battling depression. I committed suicide. Also tried.

He said, I am a suicide survivor. It would be a miracle, but at that time I thought that I am such a useless and unsuccessful man that I failed in it too. I believe it must be Mother Ganga, who is pushing me away and sending me towards the ocean. So I landed in Bombay by the sea. The way out of such suicidal thoughts came when I stopped thinking that I am useless or useful and focused on my work.
