I agree that there has been a difference in the attitude towards them, but there is still a lot of change to be done. First of all, I would like to say that they should not be considered sick or suffering from any physical disorder. They are also normal and natural like us. They should get equal rights. I feel very bad when I see people of this community begging on the road. They should also get equal rights to education and employment. I have seen that people of LGBTQ community are forced to go towards work like begging or prostitution. I have heard that in Mumbai the people of LGBTQ community run like hell, so they should get their basic rights in the society. We need to understand that these are among us since time immemorial. People like Kinnar and Shikhandi have always been a part of our society. Those who say that LGBTQ community is today’s fashion or flirtation, they are wrong. Let me tell you, they are as natural as you and me. You know, even animals have homosexual instincts.

I feel that awareness about the LGBTQ community has increased at different levels. I find media contribution important in this. The media has supported with a very positive approach, due to which I think people came to know about this community and understood it. There is a lot of cooperation in films too. I believe that it is the responsibility of the films that along with entertainment, you also give awareness and information to the people. I know that the main purpose of films is entertainment, but if films can make people aware about this issue, then This is icing on the cake. I am very happy and proud that our society has become aware about this issue and it is also necessary, because this community has been a part of our society for centuries, but today their issues are being discussed.

Undoubtedly, not only the awareness has increased among people towards them, but people have also become sensitive. I have so much love for this community. I have worked with them a lot. I have interacted with them a lot as make-up man and costume designer and have seen them become very good friends. Today the people of this community are doing good work all over the world. There is a lot of acceptance about them in our industry, but I feel they should be adopted in other sectors as well. I am happy that the big actors of the film like Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkumar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar have done the work of spreading awareness in the society by representing this community.
The fight to get them social recognition will go on for a long time.
There has undoubtedly been an improvement in the level of acceptance towards the LGBTQ community, but at times I see that even well-educated people hold a narrow view of the community, leading to homophobic behaviour. However, from my college days till now, the media has played an important role in fostering this acceptance, especially through films that were initially perceived only as entertainment or comedies, but later became films. has contributed to increasing awareness and understanding of gay rights. That the LGBTQ community has been wholeheartedly embraced by our conservative community is easy to say but difficult to practise. However, this is a global change in the direction of acceptance of this community. In our country too, the fight to give them social recognition is going on, which will continue for a long time. But I think whether it is about their relationship, marriage or parenthood, they should get their basic rights.

There has been a positive change in the awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ community, especially in metro cities where schools provide education and information on the subject. I think, there is still a lack of awareness and understanding about the LGBTQ community in India, which is disappointing. Many people make fun of him and treat him badly. Initially, I was also not that much aware of them. Films like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan may provide entertainment, but they may not necessarily generate enough awareness. This is a serious issue that requires sensitivity and proper education. I don’t know about other countries, but Indian society remains largely conservative, although awareness is on the rise. I recently heard about Pride Month, and it’s encouraging to see the progress in awareness and acceptance. It is unfortunate that derogatory words like impotent are used for them. Just as our Honorable Prime Minister changed the word disabled to Divyang for differently-abled persons, we too must adopt a more respectful term for the LGBTQ community.

It is not right to interfere in their personal life.
People have become aware of them after social media and open debate. Films have played an important role in shedding light on the struggles faced by gay and lesbian individuals, helping society understand their experiences and the challenges they face in accepting themselves amidst social conditioning. I understand, interference in his personal life is not justified. While our society is often labeled as conservative, it is important to remember that Indian culture has a history of progressiveness, especially with respect to the values imposed on women. A positive change has been seen regarding this community in our country.
