Auckland. The 5-match T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand is scheduled to start from April 18, but in the meantime, fast bowler Adam Milne and top-order batsman Finn Allen are out of the series due to injury.
Allen suffered a back injury while Milne suffered an ankle injury during training before the departure of the Kiwi team.
Giving this information in a statement, New Zealand Cricket said, “Due to the injuries to Allan and Finn, they will not be able to participate in the five-match series starting next week in Rawalpindi. Updates will be given in the coming weeks regarding their return to the field. Will go.”
In place of these injured players, wicketkeeper batsman Tom Blundell and uncapped all-rounder Jack Foulkes have been called in the team as replacements.
The 21-year-old Foulkes showcased his talent by taking 14 wickets at an impressive average of 16.28 while playing for Canterbury in the 2023-24 Super Smash season. Apart from this, he also showcased his batting skills with a strike-rate of 150. On the other hand, Blundell has played seven T20 matches.
Head coach Gary Stead said, “Our support staff and medical team will be working closely with both players over the next few weeks to complete their treatment and then plan their return to cricket.”
The New Zealand team will leave for Pakistan from Auckland on Friday evening and the first T20 match will be played in Rawalpindi on 18 April.
