Uday Saharan appointed captain of India’s Under-19 team

New Delhi . The Junior Cricket Committee has named Uday Saharan as the captain of the India Under-19 team to play in the upcoming ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2023. The tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates from December 8-17.
India enter the competition as the defending champions and are also the most successful team in the tournament, having won the trophy eight times. The Saharan-led U19 team will have 15 members, with Soumya Kumar Pandey as the vice-captain and Aravali Avnish Rao as the wicketkeeper.
The squad also features Rudra Mayur Patel and Sachin Dhaas, who are the top run-scorers in the ongoing U19 quadrangular series, as well as leading wicket-takers like Mushir Khan and Naman Tiwary. The quadrangular series also features teams from England and Bangladesh and will conclude on November 27 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The team will also have three traveling standby players in the form of Prem Deokar, Ansh Gosai and Mohammad Aman. The selection committee has also named four additional reserve players in the form of Digvijay Patil, Jayant Goyat, P Vignesh and Kiran Chormale. However, the reserve players will not be part of the touring squad.
In the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023, India will play league stage matches against Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal on December 8, 10 and 12 respectively at the ICC Academy Oval 1 and 2 venues.
The semi-finals will be held on December 15 at the ICC Academy Oval 1 and Dubai International Stadium respectively, while the final will be held on December 17.
India Under-19 team: Arshin Kulkarni, Adarsh Singh, Rudra Mayur Patel, Sachin Dhas, Priyanshu Moliya, Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan (captain), Aravelli Avnish Rao (wicketkeeper), Saumya Kumar Pandey (vice-captain), Murugan Abhishek, Inesh Mahajan (wicketkeeper) ), Dhanush Gowda, Aaradhya Shukla, Raj Limbani and Naman Tiwari.
