Actor Ranbir Kapoor’s film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar has hit the theatres. This is a romantic comedy genre film. Ranbir calls this genre his comfort zone. How did you get associated with Luv Ranjan’s film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar?
Love and my journey started in flight. I saw Luv’s film Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 on the flight and messaged him that I wanted to do a film with him. I usually do not message any director. I liked the tone and the world of that film. We met after a few months and discussed different scripts and ideas, then we settled on a script. In which Ajay Devgan and I were going to work. It was an action film. The film progressed because of Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety. After that he told me this idea. He is very good in rom-com. I understood as soon as I heard the idea of this film. I would like to tell that when I signed this film, my father was there. He always used to ask me to work with Luv, initially when we were working on an action film then papa said why are you doing action film, it is not Luv’s style. Do a film in which he is good. In the end he was happy that we are doing this film.
What is your reaction to the title of the film?
I found it strange. I asked Luv that Tu Jhoothi Mein Makkar kya hai, what kind of title is this. I thought you would give a cute title. He said that the audience has some expectations from me. Now when I watch the film, I feel that the title fits the film. It gives a window to the film. When you hear the title, you feel that the film is right and because of the title, the audience will come to the theatre.
Your new pairing with Shraddha has been a special experience.
I was always excited to work with Shraddha, I have known her since she was born. I remember our father used to shoot in Kashmir and Ooty. My sister, her brother and she and I used to play in the hotel. Used to go for horse riding. We belong to a film family, so we used to dance on Hindi film songs. She is honest and hard working, she keeps herself a bit reserved and not very friendly on set, but she understood the mood of the film very well and did not hesitate to portray it at all.
What was the biggest challenge associated with this film?
Speaking its dialogues. The way its dialogues are written. It is like a song. You can’t even move a word from here to there.
Your film is releasing on Holi, what are your special memories related to Holi, how do you celebrate this festival?
I feel very happy that I have a popular Holi song Balam Pichkari, which plays in every Holi party. I have enjoyed Holi a lot in my childhood, but as I grew up I developed OCD. Because of which I do not like color and water. I hate water because I have a water phobia. I have refused many films in my career so far because of water sequences.
Recently your grandfather Raj Kapoor’s bungalow was also sold?
It was a family decision. Everyone felt that it would be right to sell it. No one was living there and it was becoming difficult to maintain. It’s a bittersweet feeling because we all grew up there. We have memories like we used to meet there on Sundays for family dinner, yes lots of memories, but sadly that place is no more.
Any plans to revive the RK banner?
I have not decided to revive RK films. He was synonymous with Raj Kapoor. I am proud to be a part of that family, but if tomorrow I start directing, I can start something of my own. I can name it Ranbir Films or RK Junior Films or something after Raha. RK banner was, is and will be synonymous with Raj Kapoor.
You are not on social media, nowadays social media is playing an important role in stardom, would you also like to join it soon?
My thinking is a bit old because I come from a film family. I know mystery is very important for any actor. Yes, by not being on social media, I lose out on advertising and other means of making money, but the sacrifice has been worth it, as it extends the lifespan of my career. people come. To see me and my films, because they don’t see me everyday. It’s my personal opinion. I don’t know whether I am right or wrong in this, but I am happy in this. I am not going to be a part of social media.
Recently you were at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens and met cricketer Sourav Ganguly, how was the experience, are you ready to do his biopic if offered?
Dada is a very special personality in himself. He is loved all over the world, but when you make a biopic film, the matter becomes very complicated, how do you cover his entire life from birth till now, his achievements, his struggles, his personal life. are going to do. I don’t know how director Luv Ranjan is working on it, but if offered to me, I would love to do it.
You were also working on the Kishore Kumar biopic?
We are only talking now. Kishore Kumar’s biopic is being written. Still nothing has been decided.

After this Animal will be released. After that I am thinking of taking a break for some time so that I can spend time with my daughter.
You have become a father, how has the new responsibility made life special?
It’s magical. this is so beautiful. It’s only been three and a half months now. I’m still learning. Many people give me parenting tips, but until you experience it yourself, nothing will work for you. I can say this from personal experience. Raha wakes me up at night, but that too is a fun experience. I am now a belching expert and I can put him to sleep in two seconds. I can easily change his diaper too.
