A division bench of High Court Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal gave directions to the Sports Secretary to appear through video conference on Thursday during the hearing of the PIL. A petition filed by Dehradun resident and Right to Information (RTI) activist and advocate Vikesh Negi states that after the elections in 2019, the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) extorted huge money from players for selection and permission to play from other places. took.

It has been alleged in the petition that many types of economic irregularities have been done including rigging in the bills of CAU. The PIL has also claimed that the CAU has submitted a bill of Rs 32 lakh for buying bananas and Rs 22 lakh for water. The petition states that the players are facing mental harassment due to which they are being forced to play for other states. Several cases of irregularities and sexual harassment have been registered against the officials of the board.

The petitioner has prayed the court to order an inquiry into the affairs of the CAU under the supervision of a committee of three retired High Court judges. In his plea, Negi has also prayed for banning the officials involved in the alleged scams from participating in the elections to the board and taking strict action against them. The petitioner has also sought dissolution of the board and appointment of administrators in place of the board officials.
