Vice President of Dominican Republic meets President Draupadi Murmu – Dainik Savera Times

New Delhi: Vice President of the Dominican Republic Raquel Pena Rodriguez, who is on a visit to India, met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Tuesday. Welcoming Ms. Rodriguez on her maiden visit to India, the President said that the timing of the visit was very appropriate as India and the Dominican Republic celebrate the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. He said bilateral relations between the two countries are warm and friendly, based on the strong foundation of shared values of democracy and broad convergence of views on global issues.
Smt. Murmu said that the Dominican Republic is India’s 8th largest trading partner in Latin America. He expressed confidence that there is scope for further diversification in the business. He said there is scope to work together and exchange our experience and expertise in areas such as pharmaceutical products, oceanography, meteorology, disaster resilient infrastructure and digital payment technology.
The President said that capacity building is one of the key pillars of India-Dominican Republic cooperation. He was pleased to note that India has recently conducted two special ITEC training courses for officials of the Dominican Republic in the critical areas of Cyber Security and Remote Sensing. The two leaders agreed that continued exchanges and contacts between India and the Dominican Republic will further strengthen bilateral relations.
