National Cinema Day has returned once again. Yes, this year it will be celebrated on Friday, 13 October. On this day, cinema lovers have a special offer, in which they can watch their favorite movie for just Rs 99.
According to the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), more than 4,000 cinema halls will participate in the event, with major series being PVR Inox, Cinepolis and Movie Time.
In such a situation, if you also want to watch any latest release, then book tickets online now by going to Paytm or Book My Show and enjoy with family friends.
Currently, Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj, Bhumi and Shehnaaz’s Thanks for Coming, Jawan and Fukra are showing in theatres. In such a situation, if you have missed any of these films due to increased ticket prices, then go and watch it now.
While this offer doesn’t apply to premium formats like IMAX, 4DX, or even recliner seats, the idea is to keep the same price for every movie, regardless of time of day.
National Cinema Day was first started by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) in 2022. MAI launched National Cinema Day to commemorate the reopening of cinema halls after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The association decided to offer significant discounts on movie tickets on this day, encouraging moviegoers to support cinema hall owners who suffered huge losses during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Another major reason for celebrating National Cinema Day is to compete with OTT platforms. This is an effort by cinema hall owners to rekindle the magic of the big screen and appreciate the success of recent blockbusters like Jaawaan, Gadar 2 and OMG 2, which played a vital role in bringing audiences back to theatres.
This year, National Cinema Day will be celebrated across over 4000 participating screens, including renowned cinemas like PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Mirage, City Pride, Asian, Mikta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K and Delight.
Multiplex owners have not fixed any specific date for National Cinema Day. After a few changes in dates, this was seen on September 23 last year, when tickets were available at a discounted rate of Rs 75. It was a huge success, recording the highest ever single-day admission of 6.5 million.
