Netflix has finally shared the trailer of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The series featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha among many others will be released on the OTT platform. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Heeramandi is looking royal in its trailer. Offering a spectacular glimpse of the world, every frame is packed with intrigue, passion and drama, all set to enthrall audiences from May 1 only on Netflix.

Netflix India shared the trailer of Heeramandi on its Instagram profile. Read the caption- “In the glittering, majestic halls of the royal palace, romance and revolution collide in the silence. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sweeping saga of love, loss and redemption – Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Trailer out now!”.

The thrilling trailer takes the audience to the torrid district of Heeramandi, where the one and only Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) rules over an elite house of prostitutes. She plans to fear no one until the return of her late rival’s daughter, Faridan (Sonakshi Sinha), which increases the tension in the house. Outside, there is commotion in the city too, revolutionaries are demanding India’s independence from British rule, one of Mallikajaan’s daughters, Bibbojaan (Aditi Rao Hydari) is joining the fight for freedom. Meanwhile, Mallikajaan’s youngest, Alamzeb (Sharmin Sehgal), dreams of love with the son of a nawab (noble man), Tajdar (Taha Shah Badusha), and yearns to get out of Heeramandi.

As betrayals escalate and forbidden desires collide with social norms, pre-independence India’s struggle for freedom comes to a boil. In this backdrop, Mallikajaan and Faridan are locked in an epic battle for the title of Huzoor or Lady of Heeramandi. After all, who will rule?

About the series

The upcoming series stars Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Sehgal, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Richa Chadha in lead roles. The series also marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first film on OTT. Heeramandi presents a compelling picture of pre-independence India, bringing together a range of artists. On March 27, the makers of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar announced that the much-awaited web series will premiere on May 1 on Netflix.
