Mumbai . Actress Sanya Malhotra on Sunday mourned the demise of Suhani Bhatnagar, who brought to life the childhood character of wrestler Babita Phogat in the 2016 Aamir Khan starrer film ‘Dangal’. Actress Sanya expressed grief over Suhani’s demise and expressed condolences to her entire family.
The film ‘Dangal’ tells the story of Geeta and Babita Phogat, sisters from Haryana who became India’s first female wrestlers to compete and win medals in international competitions. Sanya, who started her acting career with the film ‘Dangal’ directed by Nitish Tiwari, portrayed the adult version of Babita Kumari.
The actress posted on her Instagram that I cannot believe that this news is true. There was no one like our Suhani. She was so special, so talented and so young. She left us so soon. May God rest Chhotu’s soul. My deepest condolences to Pooja, Puneet and the entire family.
Aamir Khan played the role of his father Mahavir Singh Phogat in the film ‘Dangal’. Mahavir was inspired by his dream of making his daughters world class wrestlers.
Suhani, a 19-year-old resident of Faridabad, was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called dermatomyositis two months ago.
Suhani Bhatnagar’s hands started swelling mysteriously and then it spread to the rest of the body. But until the actress was admitted to New Delhi AIIMS about 11 days ago, the doctors treating her could not know her condition.
The condition could only be treated with steroids, but it affected her immune system and left her so weak that it seemed impossible to breathe.
