Uttarakhand Forecast: Rain alert has been issued in Uttarakhand till August 10. There will be orange alert in many districts and yellow alert in many.
According to Meteorological Director Dr. Bikram Singh, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Doon, Pauri, Nainital, USnagar and Champawat. There is a possibility of heavy rains in Haridwar, Tehri, Bageshwar, Almora, Pithoragarh districts.
Here the effect will be visible for 4-5 days
The Meteorological Department says that for the next 4-5 days, a decrease in rain can be recorded in central and peninsular India. Meteorologist and former secretary M Rajeevan tweeted, ‘The phase of monsoon break has now started, which can last for 2 weeks. Extremely heavy rain will occur over North India and the weather will remain dry over the entire country. After the active phase, now the break phase has come.
He said that the weak monsoon conditions would continue at least till August 20. He has called it the effect of El Nino. Rajeevan said, “During the weakening phase of the monsoon, the monsoon trough moves closer to the Himalayas and lies at its base. There is a possibility of flood in Assam because it is raining heavily in Nepal. There can be flood in Bihar also.
Where has it rained so far
Till August 6, the country received 3 percent more rainfall. During this period, 23 percent less rainfall was recorded in East and Northeast India. Whereas, North West India received 22 percent more rain. Central India received 13 per cent excess rainfall and peninsular India saw a deficit of 3 per cent. Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura have received the least rainfall.

It is being said that El Nino may strengthen in August, due to which the monsoon rains may become weak. However, El Nino conditions still prevail, which may extend till next year.
