Story of ‘Citadel’ web series
Citadel is an independent intelligence spy agency, which does not work for any particular country. This agency is dedicated to the safety of the people of any country on earth. Eight years prior to where the series begins, the Manticore, a powerful syndicate, destroyed the Citadel. When Citadel was destroyed, its agents were completely mind-wiped. That is, he forgot everything and started living with a new identity. The motto of the Citadel is ‘To protect the last man in the line for good in the world’. Two of Citadel’s top agents Nadia Singh (Priyanka Chopra) and Mason Kane (Richard ) are ambushed on a set-up mission. As the two narrowly escape death, their memories are wiped to protect their secrets. The story moves eight years later, now an ally of the Syndicate, enlists the help of Nadia and Mason in destroying the Manticore. But now both these agents have amnesia. The Russo Brothers show has high expectations from both them and the audience. Right from the very first scene, it takes you on a bullet train in slow-motion upside-down tilt angles and sets you on a journey. The series introduces you to hotshot detectives Nadia Singh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and Mason Kane (Richard Madden). Both are on a mission and are undercover. This spy-thriller grabs hold of your heart and mind within the first few seconds itself. Be it the explosive perfume bottle or the epic fight sequence, the series sets the tone for the entire series within a few minutes of the first episode.
The first two episodes of the series are of about 40-40 minutes each. Producer David Weil and director Newton Thomas Siegel keep your thrills high. The hunters are out for the Citadel’s X-Case. Manticore is controlled by the richest families in the world. Citadel’s aide Bernard Orlick (STANLEY TUCEY) tries to bring the organization back together to thwart the crime syndicate’s evil designs. Nadia and Mason can help them with this task, but both are living a new life with their lost memories. This is how the story begins with a battle between two powerful spy agencies, taking the series forward with high-octane action, death-defying stunts, non-stop twists and turns.
The opening two episodes of the series take us to America, Italy and Spain and tell the story of detectives bringing back the past. The battle with the evil forces goes on along with the story. The production of this series has been done on a large scale, so everything that is seen on the screen is of high-quality. The speed of the screenplay of the show is also fast, which makes every minute count. In such a situation, as a viewer, you are unable to take your eyes off the screen.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas showcases her prowess as a spy. Apart from acting, he has done many shocking stunt scenes which grab your attention. Richard Madden is like a bad-ass agent. As dangerous as he is on the mission, he is equally endearing as a father and husband in the story. Stanley Tucci has done a great job in Orlik’s role as a technology expert. His comic timing is also tremendous. Priyanka and Richard really set the screen on fire with their chemistry. Leslie Manville Manticore delivers a strong performance as British Ambassador Dalia Escher.
Why see- ‘Citadel’ is excellent in terms of story, cinematography, action sequences and performances. If you are a fan of spy-thriller story and series, then surely you would not want to miss it.
