Bollywood actress Kajol said that when you start making Hollywood movies like Wonder Woman for the Indian audience and it does as well as Pathan at the box office, maybe Indian cinema will see pay parity. Kajol was in the capital to attend the first day of Jagran Film Festival (JFF) 2023. When asked when will pay parity be achieved in the film industry, Kajol initially quipped, “Aap ask an astrologer?” He further added that the audience today is far more educated and the credit goes to social media and the global content being made available by various streamers.
He said, India is progressing…they watch different types of cinema because of social media platform and over the top (OTT). We are thinking better, hoping better. When you start making films like Wonder Woman (starring Gal Gadot) for India and it does as well as Pathan, then maybe pay parity will come. Kajol was recently seen in Disney Plus Hotstar’s web series The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka. When asked to choose between two of her popular characters, Simran from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the 48-year-old actress chose Anjil.
Talking about the changing times, Kajol said that film personalities have lost their mystique due to the wide reach of social media. The JFF is being organized from August 3 to August 6 at the Siri Fort Auditorium in the national capital. It will screen over 55 films from across the world, across a wide range of genres, languages and themes.
