Right from the beginning, she loved being amidst nature and making garlands or other artistic things from flowers. He noticed that in many cities, special plants have been set up to recycle flowers which are considered waste, whereas in most of the cities it is thrown into the river or drain. Then he thought why not use these useless flowers! After doing a lot of research work on this, she registered an organization of women artisans named ‘Cheli Arts’ in Nainital, Uttarakhand. By using this biodegradable waste, local women have found a source of employment and are becoming economically empowered.

This organization of Dr. Kiran works to promote hill products and Kumaoni culture. She also makes designs on clothes with flowers and leaves. The special thing is that all this is being made from waste materials. Actually, this is an eco print, in which fashionable things are made while keeping the environment safe. In this process, colored powder is prepared from dried flowers and leaves. Even if the color released from clothes designed with this goes into water, there is no harm to the water.

The women of the organization make many types of organic products like natural Holi colors, kumkum, pithiya and incense. She does her branding through Facebook page CHELI ARTS Online Studio and website with the same name. She not only makes designs on clothes with dry flowers and leaves, but also makes lip balm made from beetroot, oil for hair etc., which are absolutely safe for the skin. Dr. Kiran tells that along with her, 10 women from the hilly areas are associated with this employment. They have a wide range of products.
Women are making the best out of waste
Dr. Kiran Tiwari told that this is a kind of botanical art. In this, things like dried flower petals, leaves, onion peels are printed on clothes. For this, women collect flowers from garlands of dried flowers from the nearby Naina Devi temple and Gurudwara and then separate their petals and use them. At the same time, for print, the cloth is first cleaned, washed and dried. Then dye prepared from flower petals is used on them. Attractive designs are made from it. This design made of flowers is known as ‘Phulari Arts’. At present she is making stalls, sarees and handkerchiefs etc. from these flowers. He further told that this work was started from home itself. Earlier it was used only for clothes etc., but gradually with the increase in demand, we are using it on other things also.
