Director Tigmanshu Dhulia believes that his journey in Mayanagari has come to a halt after the death of his close friend and actor Irrfan Khan. Dhulia’s directorial debut “Haasil” (2003) and later “Paan Singh Tomar” (2012) featured Irrfan Khan in the lead. He believes that only Irrfan could have played some characters.

Dhulia (55) said in an interview to PTI-language, “Irrfan was an actor for whom it was great to write characters. I loved to create complex characters and situations for him, because I knew that he Was able to understand it and play it. I believe there is no other actor who has that understanding.”

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s debut film “Haasil” will complete 20 years on 16th May. Describing the film as a milestone in his career, he said that after the release of “Haasil”, many producers signed him for big films but those films did not work. Among them was Sunny Deol’s period drama “Ghulami”. He said, “I don’t know what happened to me. After ‘Charas’, I did not have any film for seven years. I spent so much time due to the signing amount of some films. The work I got, I got because I made ‘Haasil’. Otherwise people would have forgotten me.
‘Garmi’ to release on April 21
“Haasil” was based on student politics. Dhulia wrote the script of “Garmi” and directed the film on the same subject, which will be released on 21 April. He said, “Preparations were there long ago. After a gap of 20 years, it will be interesting to analyze the happenings in the society from a new perspective.” Garmi is produced by Swaroop Sampat and Himal Ashok Thakkar. Mukesh Tiwari, Vineet Kumar and Vyom Yadav have worked in the film.
