WI vs IND: 2011 and today, there are only 2 people, why Virat Kohli got emotional for Guru Rahul Dravid
[ad_1]
Both the players were at opposite ends of their careers at the time. The illustrious careers of Rahul Dravid and his long-time partner VVS Laxman came to an end with the last Test in the West Indies. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, made his Test debut in the very first match of the series. Led by former all-rounder Darren Sammy, West Indies batted first and were bundled out for 204 before Ishant Sharma’s five-wicket haul. India scored 347 runs with the help of skipper MS Dhoni’s 133-ball 74.
Centuries from Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Kirk Edwards helped West Indies score 322 in their second innings, setting India a target of 180 in just one session on the last day. The hosts never allowed India to score freely and the match ended in a draw. In India’s first innings, Dravid fell to Sammy after scoring five and remained unbeaten on 34 in the second innings. Kohli scored 30 runs in the first innings and did not get a chance to bat in the second innings.
