Anil Kapoor’s Nayak proved to be a huge hit when it released on the big screen in 2001. Now, buzz in the entertainment industry claims that the film will have a sequel which will be made soon. According to the latest reports, Siddharth Anand will make the sequel of the film and Milan Luthria will direct the film. As soon as this news spread in the industry, Deepak Mukut, who made Anil Kapoor a star, broke his silence during an interview. He also reveals that he has authority over the hero.

While talking to Bollywood Hungama, Deepka said that she had the rights of this film for a long time. The filmmaker said, “I have had the rights to the hero for a long time. Siddharth Anand and I were talking. But nothing was finalized. So, I will decide who I want to make the film with. I’m talking to someone else too. I really don’t know how this news came out. This is quite shocking to me.” Deepak further said, ‘If they want to make Nayak 2, they will have to make it with me. He cannot proceed alone because he does not have the rights to the film.”

Deepak’s response to Siddharth and Milan Luthria on the production and direction of the film

When Deepak was asked if he was aware that the film would have a sequel with Siddharth Anand and Milan Luthria directing the film, Mukut replied, “I had no idea at all.” When asked what would happen if Siddharth Anand goes ahead and makes the film, he said, “He can’t. How can he do this when he does not have the rights?”

Deepak’s revelation on gaining hero rights

During the conversation, Deepak also told how he got the rights to the hero. The filmmaker said, “I was impressed by the hero’s producer, Mr. A.S. Got rights from Ratnam. I also have the negative rights of his other films, like Tejaswini (1994), Dil Hi Dil Mein (1999) etc. I had bought these rights 10 years ago.

Earlier, according to a report by Pinkvilla, Siddharth and Mamta Anand will produce Nayak 2 under their banner Marflix Pictures. The report claims, “Like the original film, this is also a large-scale commercial entertainer based on the backdrop of politics and will be directed by Milan Luthria. The makers have created a story that basically leads to the hero sequel and it has a strong undercurrent of being a cautionary film.
