New Delhi: The Indian players had not yet recovered from the shock of the defeat in the final of the World Test series against Australia when they were fined the full match fee for slow over-rate. Australian players have also been fined 80 per cent of their match fees for slow over-rates. Australia won the match by 209 runs. “It was confirmed at the end of the final day’s play on Sunday that India will forfeit the full match fee and Australia 80 per cent of the match fee for slow over-rate,” the ICC said in a statement. Under 2.22, players have been fined 20 per cent per over for not completing their overs within the stipulated time. India were five overs behind in stipulated time while Australia were four overs behind.

Additional fine on Shubman

Indian players in the playing XI get Rs 15 lakh per test and reserve players get Rs 7.5 lakh. Team India opener Shubman Gill was fined an additional 15 percent. He commented on the umpire’s controversial dismissal.

Gill was found guilty of breaching Article 2.7, which deals with public condemnation of an incident or improper statement during an international match. During India’s second innings, TV umpire Richard Kettleborough declared Gill out, whose hand touched the ground while taking a catch off Cameron Green. After the end of the day’s play, Gill posted a replay shot of the TV screen on social media.
